ABOUT

Snaefellsnes is a peninsula in the western part of Iceland. In the autumn of 2011, I had the great fortune to discover this archaic, tranquil landscape as part of a concert tour. The Icelandic experience gave me inspiration for several compositions. The memory surrounding that peculiar soundscape…: Wind, the noise of the sea, the sounds of one’s own breath… I tried to ” freeze ” it in myself in order to transfer it later into music. For the Snaefellsnes composition, I sought to recreate four still images (a sort of “sound fotography”), each one corresponding to a different place: a black volcanic sand beach; a plain with a monument referring to an ancient saga; a landscape in the middle of nowhere with a raging storm; fog hovering above the ocean…

GRAZ. The most fascinating and most applauded piece of the premiere evening of the “andere saite” at the Cultural Center at the Minorites came from Belma Beslic-Gàl.
