ABOUT

JAN MAYEN (Remembering Beerenberg) is inspired by photographs of the Norwegian Erik A., who visited the North Polar island Jan Mayen in 2008. The adventurer’s journey is also a journey to oneself. This inner search is sonified by the accordion, whereby the “possible” sounds of Jan Mayen’s nature – the sound of the sea, the wind, the polar birds – form the acoustic background of the work and the basis of the sound projection. The premiere took place during a guest artist residency at the archive “Frau und Musik” in Frankfurt/Main in November 2011.
